One of the Auwal Inuwa’s many houses from the proceeds of smugglings at Gidan Daji,
Millenium City, Kaduna
A Kaduna based Non-Governmental Organisation, Millennium City Youth Against Corruption (MCYAC), has petitioned Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) against a junior Customs officer, Auwal Inuwa of aiding and abetting smuggling of rice and contrabands.
The petition signed by the group’s Head, Barrister Jamilu Gambo said, the officer is using his house located at Gidan Daji, Millennium City, Kaduna as a warehouse for the storage of contrabands and rice – items which were declared illegal according the Nigeria’s laws.
“He uses his house which was alleged to be acquired by the proceeds of crimes as a store for contrabands and rice.”
The petition added that, as a junior officer in the Customs whose earnings are well known, the group wondered how Auwal Inuwa amassed stupendous wealth, far beyond his incomes.
The group called on the incorrigible Comptroller General of Customs, Rtd Col. Hammed Ali to initiate investigations against this officer in order to rid the corps of bad eggs.
‘The mantra of this administration is fight against corruption. That was why President Buhari sent his best and honest compatriot, Col. Ali to Customs, and he doing wonderful job.
“As a compatriots in nation-building, we must as duty, contribute our quota in bringing to the fore the activities of these economic saboteurs like Inuwa, who were hell-bent in destroying Nigeria,” the group maintained.
